Students read the story of Jesus' death and resurrection then create crosses and several reflective spaces throughout the field.
This year at Nanaimo Christian School Mr. Johnson has been integrating Bible teaching into outdoor education classes. Students have been learning about God’s story using symbols. Students recently read the story of Jesus' death and resurrection. They carved symbols to represent these two events on their walking sticks (on which they’ve been carving many chronological Bible events this year).
After reading and carving, they went across the road to the new Holland Road Field. Mr. Johnson showed the students an image of a sample resurrection garden and tasked them with using natural materials on the property to make their own versions of a resurrection garden. These reminders of Jesus’ death and resurrection are scattered throughout the Holland Road Field for the enjoyment of all.
