This year saw the inaugural season of the BC School Sports eSport Rocket League competition
On May 6th the Nanaimo Christian School's Senior Rocket League team comprised of Jack Hurley, David Hurley and Andrew Ellis competed in the BC School Sport Provincial Championship in Vancouver against WJ Mouat. The boys were down at the beginning losing the first two of a best-of-7 series. They then traded wins with the other team before coming from behind to tie the series at 3 wins each. The final match was intense to watch as there were a lot of really close goals and it even went into overtime. There was a great shot on net by the NCS team but an unlucky bounce caused the ball to head in the other direction and allowed the opposing WJ Mouat team to get the victory goal in OT and give our boys the second place finish.
The two Hurley brothers were also part of the team that got silver last year in the Pacific League finals. Two very strong seasons for them and their teammates over their grade 11 and 12 years. Thanks to the coach Mr. Toews and all those who competed on our three teams - what a great way to start eSports at NCS!
