"Look Up" is the new theme for 2024-25 school year

The challenge: Let's look up from our devices to connect with those around us and look up to turn our eyes toward God.

Our new theme for the school year at Nanaimo Christian School is "Look Up!" This theme is a reminder to us to turn our eyes to God in all situations. Our theme connects to Hebrews 12:1-3, and reminds us that in all things we can keep our focus on God who has gone before us and laid out the race that He wants us to run.

We will unpack this theme in our classroom and also throughout the year in our weekly chapels.

The theme is also a reminder to students that we can “look up” from our devices and be more intentional about connecting with the amazing people we get to be with here at school and in our lives outside of school. [Starting this school year NCS is a phone-free school. Read more.]

Throughout the school year during chapels and assemblies, students and staff will sing this year's theme song: "Look Up Child" by Lauren Daigle.

As a school community this year we'll dig into our theme Bible verse and explore what that looks like for each of us. We're excited to see how God will inspire and transform our community this year as we spend less time on devices and more time connecting with others and Him.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” -- Hebrews 12:1-3
