Grade 12 students share insights on their personal growth during their time in high school at Nanaimo Christian School.
Before the NCS Class of 2021 could graduate, each student was required to complete a Grad Defense presentation, an annual tradition at NCS. They used evidence to prove that they were not the same person they were when they entered high school. They each had to demonstrate that they had grown academically, spiritually, and in integrity. And they made us so proud.
Here is some of the wisdom and insight they shared ... things we wished we knew at their age!
Come as you are, and remember progress over perfection.
It seems people with much less stuff are much more happy.
Life is full of mercies in disguise.
My mom is my hero.
Connection is the correction.
Healing from trauma takes 7 generations.
Never trade in who you are for what people want.
It's difficult being of mixed ethnicity as you can feel like you don’t belong in either, but in the end I am proud that I have the chance to experience both of my cultures and for being who I am today.
It's always impossible until its done.
Here I am Lord, send me.
Worship is what you do with the gifts you’ve been given.
Know how to step away from unhealthy friendships.
You must have self-grace.
I want to be the best version of myself.
There is a joy in helping others.
I love being outside of my comfort zone.
Not everyone will like my music, but I need to like my music.
Congratulations Class of 2021! God bless you!
