Introducing a new elementary school teacher at NCS
Meet Mrs. Rianna Bartz, a new elementary school teacher at Nanaimo Christian School! Here are 7 things you need to know about her:
1. What’s your job title at NCS?
Gr. 3/4 Teacher
2. Tell us a bit about your work before coming to NCS.
During my first four years of teaching, I was the Gr. 3/4 teacher at a Christian School in Surrey, BC. Since moving to Vancouver Island, I have worked as a community class teacher through Regent Online Christian Academy, and as a curriculum writer for an online curriculum provider.
3. What do you love most about the type of work you do?
The part of teaching that I love most is the special connection you make with students and their families. It is a true gift to be able to spend each day with a group of students and to learn how each child is a unique member of our classroom family.
4. If you were an animal, what animal would you be? Why?
I would probably be a cat! I love to be cozy … and if I climbed a tree, I would probably get stuck and need rescuing.
5. What’s your secret talent or party trick?
I can fold a paper crane!
6. What are your hobbies?
I love to read, spend time with my husband and kids, take walks in nature, swim in lakes, and tackle almost any creative project. My latest project is restoring a beautiful old dollhouse.
7. What’s one thing God has been teaching you this year?
A theme that I believe God has been placing in my life over this past year is to stay slow and to live from a place of trust in his provision rather than a place of hurry or fear.
