Introducing the new high school principal at NCS.
Meet Mr. Jon Roper, the new high school principal at Nanaimo Christian School! Here are 7 things you need to know about him.
1) New position at NCS
High School Principal
2) Before coming to NCS
I have been blessed to work in different camp and youth group settings before starting as an elementary homeroom and K - 5 PE teacher in Calgary. Before coming to NCS, I enjoyed 3 years as the junior high and 3 years as the elementary Vice Principal at Trinity Christian School.
3) Favorite thing about my work
The thing I like most about my job is being able to build relationships and connect with students, families, and teachers. It is a bit cliche, but it does take a village to raise a child, and it is a privilege to be able to work with families to lead, support, and encourage a student to become all that God has made them to be.
4) If I were an animal ...
I would be a dolphin. Dolphins are relational, curious, and love to have fun, and given my love for swimming and playing in the water, it seems like an appropriate choice.
5) Secret talent or party trick
I love to build things. If I was not a teacher, I would love to be a carpenter.
6) Hobbies
Our family loves to get outdoors together and hike or explore. I enjoy playing almost any kind of sport from basketball to golf. As a family, we also love spending time on the water, whether that means tubing a river, wakeboarding on a lake, or sailing on the ocean.
7) God has been teaching me
God has been teaching me the importance of patience. God has a great plan for my life, and his timing is perfect. I have learned that if I have the patience to wait on him and listen to his voice, he will lead me to wonderful places and incredible things … like NCS!
